In 2015, Central English was awarded a very prestigous contract to train government civil servants of the Supreme Feberal Court of Brazil (STF).

As one of the main English training schools in Brasilia with experience of teaching English for Law, International subjects related to Brazil and an online platform compatible with the STF’s requirements.

This course was designed specifically for the civil servants at the STF to perfect their English Translation and Summary skills for all of the court’s English online publications.

Designed by Prof Shaun, Law subjects relevant to the STF’s current workload were developed for students to improve their English and produce texts for the government online website and social media.

Areas in the course included Brazilian and International Corruption cases, Human Rights, Tax and Tax avoidance as well as information for publishing court news and summaries of the main decisions of the Federal court  and other consitutional court cases currently in the news.

The course was spread over 30 weeks with most of the classes being reviewed online and face-to-face classes to review doubts and adapt the course further to the needs of the students’ work. The Human Resources department were able to monitor the participation as well as their performance of those on the course through access to our online platform.

Central English offered new techniques that the translators and  text reviewer at the STF had not come across such as lexical building notebooks so they collect language they constantly use in their work contact and using texts as models to produce similar texts for the Supreme Court’s website.

The contract was successfully and satsficatorily completed in the specified time and Central English would like to thank the president, at the time, Ricardo Lewandowski, his international assistants, the court’s human resources department and the students/workers for helping to make the course happen.
